Helping Hands team building for charity

The Problem
It's quite incredible to think that in 2016, 2 children a week lost a limb to land mines. What is even more crazy is that the majority of those land mines have been in the ground for over 30 years!
It's costs less than $3 to manufacture a land mine, and almost $18 to disable and remove one from the ground. That explains why there are still an estimated 110 million anti-personnel mines in the ground and another 250 million stockpiled in at least 108 countries around the world.

Helping kids lead normal lives
As part of the XL Groups ever expanding reach throughout the world, we are bringing business together to help children in third world countries overcome the tragedy of losing limbs to land mines.

The Helping Hands Program is a truly unique opportunity for organisations to get involved with a worthwhile cause and super-charge employee engagement. This is so much more than just a team building activity, participants in our programs build prosthetic hands that are then donated to amputee landmine victims throughout the developing world. The activity empowers every participant in just a few hours to make a real and lasting contribution and in doing so reminds people what it feels like to be engaged in a truly purposeful activity.

Helping Hands is one of our popular Sydney team building activities

So successful has the program been, that more than 9800 hands have been assembled via charitable team building activities, and fitted to kids around the world since 2010.
Helping Hands has been such a success in fact, that the actual prosthetic hand design is now displayed in the Smithsonian Institute, a true piece of simple engineering design.

The growth in demand community focused team building activities that give something back and have real purpose is a breath of fresh air in the corporate team building industry.
